I'm a Michigan native who has always been interested in the natural world, from both technical and aesthetic perspectives. I completed my B.S. in Michigan, took a few years traveling and trying different jobs to decide what I was most interested in, found a great adviser, and reluctantly followed her to Nevada where I completed my M.S. Once there, the beautiful Great Basin won me over and I chose to stay for my Ph.D. I'm currently back east in Virginia for my postdoc, practicing spring ephemeral IDs and exploring the trails of Appalachia. Aside from science, I enjoy running, camping, fens, Bradbury books, schafkopf, hot springs, and, apparently, taking photos with my old point-and-shoot.
